Images + Portraits of Icebergs
Sample fine art photos and snapshots of daily life in Kalaallit Nunaat. My photographs are portraits of icebergs that are no longer with us. This is a celebration of lives lost. It’s possible that my images are the only photos that document these icebergs’ existence. We need to walk the talk when it comes down to climate change disruption.
Going forward, I will be photographing ice for the foreseeable future but when enough of these massive fresh water bergs melt, the sea levels will rise. Please appreciate the beauty but think about the meaning of the image when you see it.
My photos are a mere tribute and proof of their existence but don’t let the beautiful light in Greenland fool you. These images paradoxical because whilst they are beautiful sculptural objects from nature, they represent a chilling reminder that their death was imminent.
I created a video to showcase some of my favorite images and it is posted below.
I want to thank these icebergs for allowing me the privilege of photographing them. These icebergs and the people of Kalaallit Nunaat made climate change personal for me. My hope is that they will touch some of you as well.
